New Version - Version 1.1.1F (Full Version)

The new full version of PlanetariaX is available on the Android Market. It now includes an improved loader with a progress percentage.  This should also help with the force-close messages experienced by some users as the load is now processed in a seperate thread.

At Last! Messier Objects!

Planetariax (Full Edition) now includes the Messier object library (as well as a couple more display options that I've always meant to put in there!)

If there are any problems with the accuracy of this catalog, please let me know and I will amend as necessary.

Enjoy!

New Versions

After some thought, I have split PlanetariaX into 2 different versions - Free and Full (Donate).

The free version now contains small adverts at the top of the screen in an attempt to cover my hosting and other costs involved with the development of this app.

Users do have the opportunity to upgrade to the Full version for £1.99 (GBP) which removes the advertising and it is this full version that will receive functionality upgrades in the future - the free version will remain as is.

At this price, I think it's obvious that I'm not trying to rip people off, and I've had a lot of positive feedback from users saying that they like the app and would gladly pay for it! Well, here's your chance to help me out by saying a little thankyou. And, if you don't want to - then you don't have to. Simples.

PS :
In the new versions, I think I may have addressed the problem reported on the new phones (but if I'm wrong, please let me know asap!)

HTC Magic

Sorry all for the lack of updates - I'm very busy with my day job at the moment! Never seem to be able to find the time to work on the app at the moment.

I'm getting reports that PlanetariaX doesn't run in the HTC Magic. I will look into this, but as I don't have this phone it's going to be a bit difficult to nail this problem down! Will upload a new version as soon as I've worked out what the problem is!

Hurrah!

Hello All! Well, thanks all for the positive feedback!

I've taken it all on board and I think that yes, I'm going to continue work on PlanetariaX.

Next version will include bug fixes (mainly the moon position error) and I'll also see if I can get Messiers in there.

Once again, thanks all for the feedback!

Google Sky Map

What can I say? If people want me to continue the development of PlanetariaX, drop me a line, but I don't think I'm going to be able to compete with the big G's Sky Map anymore.

If you think I should continue, let me know ... otherwise, I will bow out now ...

Moon Position

Yes folks, there is a major bug in calculating the position of the moon. I'm looking to rectify it over the weekend and upload an update (v1.4.2) by the 11th May 2009.

Version Delay

Unfortunately, I won't be able to get the new version (1.4.1) ready for the 2nd April as I'm weighed down with my day job, but I'm looking to get it released sometime next week.

Will keep you posted!

Known Issues

After feedback from the latest version (1.4.0) these are the known issues that I am endeavouring to fix in the next release :
  • Use back button in Live mode to exit (rather than a screen touch)
  • Forced close bug when GPS disabled (seems intermitent)
  • More advanced and detailed settings menu required
  • More responsive zoom in/out required
Next release due ~2nd April 2009! (v1.4.1)

Any Suggestions?

Before I prepare a new release version, if any of you have any suggestions/bug reports that you wish to share with me, please let me know and I'll do my utmost to get them in as soon as possible!

v1.4.0 Released

More updates to follow at regular intervals as I've already received lots of very positive feedback and some great suggestions. I am looking to get a new version ready for the 2nd April 2009.
